De IJzeren Lijst

dinsdag 13 januari 2004De vragenlijst is verstuurd naar alle hoogleraren verbonden aan filosofiefaculteiten in Nederland en België. Er zijn er 150 enquêtes verstuurd, ongeveer een derde (44) daarvan is ingevuld teruggestuurd - waarvan twee met de mededeling dat de vragen onbeantwoordbaar waren. In de antwoorden is elke faculteit vertegenwoordigd.

De puntentelling was als volgt:
plaats 1: 10 punten
plaats 2: 7
plaats 3: 5
plaats 4: 3
plaats 5: 2 punten.

Als de titels niet genummerd waren, maar enkel aangekruist, kreeg elk boek 5 punten. Bij een gelijk aantal punten, is het boek met de meeste stemmen hoger geëindigd.
